Here is Jasmine, Eugenia & Jaelyn at the Downtown East Macdonald blogging for Challenge 4. ^^
As we can't think of any names for our team, so we decided to stick with Team 4! :D
On 23rd March, We went to The Cathay for the Cathay Decoded Race and we need to blog for our Challenge 4.
Firstly, we went there to register and get our T-shirts, clues & bag :)
All CNOS2 participants were given this envelope which contained coupons for Frolick, Best Fries Forever and The Singapore Flyer! Thankyou, Cathay! :)
We were also given a bag that contained bags of popcorn, cans of coke, ponchos & T-shirts for the race :)
We then went to change into our 'Cathay Decoded Race' tees and at approximately 1.45pm, the *cough* handsome *cough* emcee gave us a briefing on the race! :)
In the red bag, we were given this card with a QR code. We had to snap a photo of the code with this app called the 'QR reader', then, a picture will be given. From the picture, we must identify where the next station is located :)
this is what we got after we scan...
so.... LET'S GO! *BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*
STATION 1
We were tasked to find 10 QR codes around The Cathay's Basement level and level 1. Questions on 'The Cathay' were given and we need to fill the crossword puzzle with our answers.
STATION 2
Station 2 was right outside 'The Cathay Restaurant'. We had to answer questions in regards to the restaurant and solve a crossword puzzle too. We took alot of time at google-ing, looking at the menu & the brochure.
'The Cathay Gallery' was station 3! Here, one can learn about how The Cathay building came to be and it's founders. It was a really interesting place with items from the past such as trophies, books, articles, cameras and even old cinema chairs! This place is a must-go if you are interested in history and is bound to be an eye-opener for you.
But still, there is crossword puzzle to solve! And we keep searching all over the gallery and we were slow to solve all the answers.
STATION 4
...walking...
...and walking...
THEN GUESS WHAT HAPPENED. luck was obviously not on our side that cause IT STARTED RAINING REALLY HEAVILY!
(camwhoring despite the rain HAHA)
Look at how heavy the rain was! Thank god for the ponchos omgggg
& Finally, after searching for the place for a really long time, we found it! This, is STATION 4 :)
You must be wondering, What is HangOut@MountEmily ?
'Hang Out' is a hotel (located at MountEmily) for budget savy travellers. They offer a safe, cozy environment with clean, fully air-conditioned rooms and ensuite bathrooms at rates that won't blow your budget. 'HangOut' hotel is also a great place to chill with friends as it is located in town, but yet away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
After that walk back the long road and also took MRT to our station 5!
Can see from the photos we are super tired!!!!
STATION 5
Station 5 was at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, a.k.a home of all CNOS2 bloggers,HAHA!
We come here so much, i bet we can all memorise the shops here!
The task for station 5 was to find 10 QR codes, then scan it and answer the questions it shows.
Unfortunately, due to time limtations, our team was not able to complete this station, and we had to forfeit station 6 too :(
It was about 6.15pm by then, and we had to head back to The Cathay. We decided to treat ourselves to BestFriesForever with the coupons given, as a form of reward to ourselves! :)
Here are the winners of Cathay Decoded Race 2013! Congratulations!!!!
We were all given goodie bags too! Everyone is a winner ;D
Although we did not win any cash prize, but actually we had another envelope which had 1 movie pass voucher & $5 discount voucher for E2M@X, we enjoyed the race thoroughly, nonetheless!! It was nice to meet the other bloggers in person and we had a great time together :D I'm also really proud of ourselves because despite knowing that we were one of the last teams, we did not give up halfway and completed as many stations as we could :)
There's also food for us after the race. Really, Cathay, Thank you so much! We love you! ^^♥
Here's one last shot of Team 4! ♥
THANKS FOR READING! ♥
